Holy Week

“Famous in the world for its dazzling beauty, for the art accumulated over 400 years, for the unique setting in which it takes place, for the passion and emotion with which it is lived, the Holy Week of Seville is a baroque celebration that lives today in defiance of time and change”. Thus was presented to the whole world an unrepeatable work that will return to the big screen 27 years later restored in 4K from its original 35 mm. The cinematic event will take place on April 5, in Lent and only two weeks before the celebration of Holy Week 2019. The re-release may also leave new generations and viewers who did not have the opportunity to see it in the year of its release, 1992, speechless. A documentary masterpiece, an unforgettable film that shows the Holy Week of Seville as it had never been seen before and as it has never been seen again.

Directed by Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón “HOLY WEEK”, with music by Antón García Abril and photography byJosé Luis Alcaine. The film was produced in 1992 by Juan Lebrón (Sevillanas, Flamenco) and was a huge success with audiences and critics. Today it is still considered a masterpiece of documentary filmmaking around the world.
